Veterans Alert: Nancy Reagan to be defamed

Like most Veterans we are appalled at the prospect of Hanoi Jane Fonda being cast as Nancy Reagan. We have stood by silently in disgust while Hollywood has made film after film about Conservatives and portrayed them in a mockery of historical perspective. The likes of films of Oliver Stone, and the more recent efforts of HBO and the Game Change, which changes the facts into liberal fantasy about Sarah Palin. Why in the world does the mainstream media and Hollywood fear Sarah Palin, George Bush, and other conservative figures so dreadsomely that they are compelled to fudge history in order to smear them?

Now we learn that Hanoi Jane will be portraying Ronald Reagan’s First Lady Nancy. We can think of no other actress as much a miscasting as Fonda for the role.

Absolutely and utterly not! It is totally unacceptable. Some news stations report that she apologized to Veterans a number of years ago. I know of no Veterans who accepted the apology from a woman who went to the enemy capital during wartime, accused our POWs there of all kinds of crimes, and lies, and posed for pictures on a North Vietnamese Anti-Aircraft gun, pretending she was aiming at a US Aircraft. What made the apology even more ludicrous and unacceptable, Fonda did the apology just as her new movie was released!

We personally believe that Ms. Fonda should never have been allowed back into the United States after her treasonous actions in Hanoi. Once back, we felt that she should have been charged with providing aid and comfort to the enemy and tried for it. We felt that way then, and we still feel that way now. We have, since finding out about her Hanoi trip in July of 1972, boycotted all of her products.

We suspect that Mrs. Reagan is as repulsed as we are at the thought of Fonda portraying her on film.

We hope the nation will boycott Ms. Fonda’s activities. Countless Veterans will. The mere mention of her name evokes extremely negative responses in most Vietnam Veterans.

65 Cosponsors for HR 3612

As of yesterday, the count of cosponsors for the Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Act, HR 3612 rose to 65. That is about 25% of the number we raised last session for a bill that was never going anywhere. Let's start pushing your Representatives harder. Tell them this is not the same old bloated Bob Filner bill, but a real bill much less expensive than Filner's bill. This one is realistic.

HR 3612 was introduced back on December 8th by Representative Christopher Gibson, [NY-20]. The bill is currently in the House Committee on Veterans Affairs.

All the folks in Congress we have spoken to like this bill and believe it will pass. Many Congressmen are waiting for the Congressional Budget Office estimate of the bill's cost before committing to cosponsorship. Let them know cost must never be a factor when dealing with sick and dying Veterans.

Contact your Congressman today! Call his local office, it should be listed in the front of your phone book.
