Now Hear This! Attention On Deck!

Just want to alert you to a couple of new features.

At the top of the right sidebar is a link to a page where you can find out who your Congressional Representative is, and who your Senators are. Even more, it will give you contact information for them. Use this in your efforts to see your Representatives and Senators while they are home. Thanks to Tom Laliberte for this tip!

Under that feature you'll find the Bill Trackers for each of the three bills we are following: HR 6562, The Agent Orange Equity Act of 2008, HR 6798, the Agent Orange Gastro-Intestinal Cancers Act of 2008 [tracker not yet available], and HR 5892, the Veterans Disability Benefits Claims Modernization Act of 2008, which is already passed in the House and has gone to the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee. At the bottom of each bill's section is a link to read [and copy] the text of the bill.

Use these tools to go face to face with your legislators this month. Do it now, rather than later as they will be heading to the conventions toward the end of the month.

Finally, we have added a wonderful graphic courtesy of Ray Berilla, webmaster par excellance over at the USS Joseph Strauss DDG 16 website. The graphic, titled "We were there, too!" depicts a "White Hat" reflected in the Vietnam Memorial Wall. It is very poignant. Click on it and take a look at a damn fine Navy Ship's website! Now, please get to your "CongressCritters," as ChuckieG calls them. If you want the Agent Orange Equity Act of 2008 and the other two bills passed this term, then you MUST make direct contact with your legislators, especially in the Senate! We will have better chance at passing the bills this term if both the House and Senate consider the bill at the same time: concurrent consideration.

Folks, we can tell you we are making great progress with Congress, and it is in large part due to your unflagging efforts at writing, calling, faxing, and visiting your Representatives and Senators. You can also chalk up Operation Medal Return as having a major effect in getting the ball moving.

Let us not waste those efforts. Push now like you never pushed before.

Your legislators are home now and will be until around the 21st. This is your opportunity. Please don't waste it. That means next week and half the following week is the prime time to get to them at home.
